Later in her life, Daisy may only like Gatsby for his riches and because of their previous relationship. Gatsby also has lived â€Å"the American Dream,† according to some of Daisy’s beliefs. He is rich, elegant, and has made a living by working hard, or so she thinks until it becomes clear that Gatsby is a bootlegger. Daisy does not know exactly what he has done in order to make all this money, but she doesn’t argue with it or question it. Her current husband, Tom, can represent the average husband, but he is the type of man that can sweet talk his way out of anything.For this reason, he takes advantage of Daisy by having an affair, but also because he is big and just a plain bully. Like Daisy, Tom loves his spouse, but there are times when this may not be so apparent. They come together and seemingly make the perfect couple to an outside audience because they both like to have their fun with others, but when it comes down to their marriage, they do love each other because they do not have any other choice. After all, they both said their vows. â€Å"’You two start on home now, Daisy†¦. Go on.He won’t annoy you. I think he realizes that his presumptuous little flirtation is over’† (142). Tom says this referring to Gatsby’s and Daisy’s flirtation ending. Daisy knows she would rather Tom than Gatsby and that her fling with Gatsby is over now for good. Unfortunately, Daisy’s wishes for her American Dream had little to do with money, although she does like her men rich. She wanted to have a husband and her true love too, but with Tom and Gatsby’s dislike for each other, it is not possible and her dream of true love is shattered.Nick is the epitome of the American Dream. He has lived a good life, does not have a ton of money, but still is somewhat happy, though lonely at the same time. His little home is in between two mansions on West Egg, an island in New York. He meets a woman through Daisy named Jordan Baker and cannot decide whether he really likes her or not but thinks that there may be a future between them but in the end decides that it will probably just be just a fling. For Nick, living the American Dream is having everything – money, women, and happiness.At this point in time for Nick, that is not a possibility. Nick has a strongly mixed reaction to life on the East Coast, one that creates a powerful internal conflict that he does not resolve until the end of the book. On the one hand, Nick is attracted to the fast-paced, fun-driven lifestyle of New York. On the other hand, he finds that lifestyle grotesque and damaging. His inner conflict is symbolized throughout the book by his romantic affair with Jordan Baker.He is attracted to her vivacity and her sophistication just as he is repelled by her dishonesty and her lack of consideration for other people. About Jordan, Nick says, â€Å"She was incurably dishonest. She wasn’t able to endure being at a disadvantage, and given this unwillingness, I suppose she had begun dealing in subterfuges when she was very young in order to keep that cool smile turned towards the world† (63). The Inspectors specific style of narration, is one that is used to arouse tension within the plot and in-turn, keep the audience attentive the whole way through. In this form of narration, the Inspector holds back vital information, as he slowly interrogates the characters one by one each time, accusing them, until eventually he reveals each segment of the story to the audience:  Its the way I like to work. One person and one line of inquiry at a time.  (Inspector Goole, Act one) The Inspector shows that his method of working is chronological; the style of narration thus creates suspense, as the audience wants the information all in one go and cant bare to wait any longer. The increasing and decreasing pace makes the narration more exciting, as his continuous interrogation makes the audience tense with apprehension. The audience doesnt know who is involved and what specific parts they play, and this lack of information creates immense suspense, as they wait for the Inspector to reveal the truth, one by one. At the beginning of the play, the Inspector controls the interrogations with all power, as his narration is calm and smooth. However, this eventually transforms during the course of the plot and near the end, his mood becomes irritable and impatient. This sudden change in mental state is triggered off by the immature and selfish attitudes of Mr and Mrs Birling, who refuse to co-operate and instead, just quarrel and lie. The Inspector knows they are being untruthful and becomes enraged:  Youre not telling me the truth (Inspector Goole, end of Act two). He at this point is so angry with them due to their un-repentance, that he loses his cool. Their un-truthfulness disrupts his prompt narration process, thus causing him to change his mood and force them to tell the story correctly. The audience knows at this point that the Inspector is already fully aware of everything that went on with Eva Smith, and that his only reason for coming to the Birling household, is so that the other characters too become informed. This fact creates a massive suspicion among the audience as they wonder why he is acting so unprofessionally and with all emotion over just a simple inquiry. His continuous narration at first seems as just part of the normal interrogation, but as the plot unfolds, the Inspectors desire for justice starts to take over, as it is made apparent that the Inspector has more of an attachment to the case than he first let out. Despite this obvious emotion though, the Inspector keeps his cunning standpoint and thus is placed as a hero icon among the audience, as they gain an immense respect for his empathy and ingenious narration throughout the play. Paragraph 6- The Inspectors function as a social/ political commentator   1st Re-draft  Within the play, the biggest and most influential role of the Inspector is his profound function as a social and political commentator. In this position, Priestley has expressed his own comments about the society we live in, and through the Inspectors contrast, the beliefs of social equality to the audience. The Inspector is thus continually used to pose as a representative for many different ideologies, and is fundamentally used to represent the once-thought fairness in socialism of the 20th Century. Within this political role, Priestley has used Inspector Goole to question that of the Capitalist society, as he enforces all power over the money-bound arrogance of the Birling family. Continually he questions their Capitalist motives, whilst at the same time, showing that he believes their only substance is that of arrogance, greed and prejudice. With this being the case, in Act one, Priestley shows his contempt for this political standing, as in response to Gerald saying that the Birlings are respectable citizens and not criminals, the Inspector says:  Sometimes there isnt as much difference as you think. Often, if it was left to me, I wouldnt know where to draw the line (Inspector Goole, Act one) Through this comment, Priestley shows that he has an immense doubt over the Capitalist point of view. He shows that he thinks all the results of its ugly nature are nothing but criminal, and that issues resulting from it, such as sexual inferiority, the obvious difference in class, and lack of self-worth, are all wrong, and that the people who abide in its system, are convicts, all but in name. In my opinion, he shows that the corrupt deeds that take place behind closed doors are nothing but depraved, and that the Capitalist society is an immoral tool, used to make the rich richer and the poor poorer. Ultimately, he shows that Capitalism and everyone who stand in agreement with it are wrong and that they themselves are illicit, just by being in allegiance with such a corrupt system. The Inspector, being a puppet for Priestleys intentions, is biased throughout the play towards the political view of Socialism. -This belief; originally brought about to bring equal opportunities to everyone, is a political opinion, worlds away from the unfairness of the Capitalist society today. It consists of sharing and looking after one another, in the unison of agreement under a free and equal right to life. The Inspector, who has been used to firmly deliverer this belief, shows his attachment, even in his conversations with the Birlings:  You see we have to share something. If theres nothing else, we have to share our guilt.

Vigenere cipher is a form of polyalphabetic substitution cipher which is used for encrypting a plain text. Vigenere cipher can be explained by Caesar cipher method of encryption. In a Caesar cipher encryption method, every letter of the plain text is shifted to some number of places where as in vigenere cipher every letter is shifted with different shift values. Method of Encrypting and Decrypting The logic to obtain the cipher text by vigener cipher is by modular addition of plaintext and repeating keyword. Vigenere cipher is a polyalphabetic cipher and these kinds of ciphers are difficult to decipher because of their resistance to letter frequency analysis and the same text will not be encrypted with same key each time. In the year 1854 a British cryptographer Charles Babbage found the method to decipher the message. The vulnerability for vigenere cipher is repetition of key When a word in plain text repeats it gives the hint to guess the length of the key Once the length of the key is found it is easy to crack the vigenere cipher The above example illustrates how the vigener cipher can be cracked. The plain text used in this is maths is short for mathematics and keyword used is key. Since the plain text contains the word math twice, cipher text also contains the same encrypted text WERR twice with 15 letters apart. Now it can be guessed that keyword must be a factor of 15. 1,3,5,15 are the factors, if it is 1 then it is simple caesar cipher , key word cant be of 15 letter in this case, between 3 and 5 it can be found easily by closely analyzing the ciphertext. Recommendation Considering the colleges within the non-technical environment Vigenere cipher can be recommended because, As the vigener cipher is difficult to break since it uses 26 different cipher alphabets. The method of encryption is difficult to understand by non-technical people. John Locke Paper Essay

Throughout the 17th century, John Locke presented society with his teachings and theories that clarified the order of natural law and fulfilled humanity’s divine purpose for living. It all began in 1647, as a young boy when he attended the prestigious Westminster School in London under the sponsorship of Alexander Popham. During his years at the Westminster School, he found the work of modern philosophers more interesting than the material being taught at the university. Much of Locke’s influence and later work was characterized by opposition to authoritarianism, which focused on both the level of the individual person and on the level of institutions such as government and church. Locke wanted each of us to use reason to search after truth rather than simply accept the opinion of authorities or be subject to superstition. He wanted us to proportion go along with the proposition to the evidence for them. Locke came to the conclusion that there must be a balance and mutual understanding between individuality and social institutions where society will not feel suppressed under man made law and restrictions. John Locke believed that all knowledge comes from experience. Experience is composed of two parts: external and internal. External experiences are ideas of supposed external objects. These objects enter our minds through sensation. Examples of sensations would be hot, cold, red, yellow, hard, soft, sweet and bitter. Internal experiences are reflections that make us understand the operation on the objects of sensation. Examples of reflections are thinking, willing, believing, doubting, affirming, denying, and comparing. Once again Locke goes back to his foundation of principles by reaffirming that in order to achieve success and sensation there must be a working relationship between individual goals and the law of society. Sensation and reflection are called the two fountains of knowledge. All of our ideas we can naturally have or have so already come from these two experiences. Sensible qualities convey into the mind, and they produce most of the perceptions and most of the great sources of ideas we have. Sensation and reflection differ from each other because sensation is what happens outside the body, and reflection has to do what happens inside the body with our mind. Also reflection has to do with the ideas it affords being such only as the mind gets by reflecting on its own operations within itself, the mind takes over its own operations and the manner of them. Besides having sensible qualities one also contains primary and secondary qualities. Locke explains that these qualities are two kinds of properties that an object could have. Primary qualities contain solidity, figure, extension, motion and number. They are properties that are objective and independent on senses. On the other hand, secondary qualities consist of color, smell, taste, sound and touch. They are properties that are subjectively perceived. In Locke’s, An Essay Concerning Human Understanding, he states, â€Å"sensible qualities; which, whatever reality we by mistake attribute to them, are in truth nothing in the objects themselves, but powers to produce various sensations in us†¦Ã¢â‚¬  (John Locke, 77). In other words, secondary qualities are dependent on the primary qualities. According to Locke, ideas are anything that is â€Å"the immediate object of perception, thought, or understanding† (William Lawhead, 91). Locke states that sensation and reflection are classified as simple and complex ideas. Simple ideas are red, yellow, hard, soft, etc and for example, you touch an ice cube, your mind is telling you its cold and it’s hard, you learn that from experience. Locke believed that the mind cannot know an inexperienced idea or create a new simple idea. Although the mind cannot create simple ideas, it can process them into complex ideas. Complex ideas are made up of several simple ideas, such as beauty, gratitude, a man, an army, the universe. Complex ideas are also broken down into three parts: ideas of substance which is a constant collection of simple ideas, ideas of mode which is a combination of several ideas, which form a mode, like a triangle, last but not least ideas of relationship, which is a comparison of one idea to another. From experience it goes to sensation and reflection, and those are based on simple ideas and that’s all contained in the passive mind, after simple ideas it goes to complex ideas and that’s located in the active mind. Overall in Locke’s theory he uses epistemological dualism, which is the mind that consists of knowing and its ideas. He also states the object in the external world is known by ideas, and our ideas represent those objects. After researching about Locke’s theory of knowledge I would have to agree with what he has stated. Locke states that you go through an internal and external experience and I feel that today’s youth do go through the motions of the internal and external experiences. As a result the youth are able to gain the knowledge from those experiences by allowing the mind to willingly accept these new ideas. For example, when I was younger I put my hand near a hot stove and from the heat irritating and pressuring my hand my mind told me it was a negative stimuli and it was essential to remove my hand from the stove and to keep that memory as a basic instinct. Society goes through experiences throughout life of internal and external and eventually gains knowledge through these experiences. John Locke also stated that the mind does all the knowing and its ideas are known. I agree with what he is saying because your mind is always working, it’s always active, we receive ideas internally through our mind and we receive ideas from the outside that goes into our mind. The balance is necessary between internal and external factors to keep society and individuals stable and yet progressive to adapt to new changes that rise up.
